Leaving the Farm

I called this little mini 'Leaving The Farm'
It is a nostalgic photo journey of some of the old outbuildings and sheds from my childhood home.
I loved the freedom of life on a quarter section of land as a child. Hot summer days the sun in our hair and wind to our backs. We would leave the house early in the morning. Most times with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a thermos of water  to go exploring. We would wander back in the late afternoon. Dusty mosquito bitten, hungry and happy with our day of letting our imagination entertain us. I spent halcyon hours in the rafters of this barn as a child coloring with treasured wax crayons in my very own super size thick coloring book.
This old barn still stands. It was built in the early 1900's or late 1800's. The workmanship of those hand hewn logs is unparalleled. We would spend our fall days filling the top with hay bales, stacked alternately so they would not topple over. In the cold Alberta winters it was our job to make sure we fed the horses before and after school. I still have to do the journaling inside. Will share more soon.
