I Dream of The Highlander

'The Highlander', don't those words alone just conjure up an image in your mind? I can hear the bagpipes and see him...tall, strong and waiting for me just over by the big stones. That is the way it is with an art journal, you are translating the image in your mind onto a journal page. I have been reading a series of books by Diana Gabaldon, that is where the inspiration for this page came from.
 Thank YOU Diana for 'Séamas'
Hints to create your own:
Decide what hard elements you want to incorporate.
In this sample, I emboss the time stamps first
in a dark color. Then  sketched where the moon would be, added clouds in with a
product that resists the spray.
I covered the moon area to protect it and
sprayed  around the protected areas.
For the bottom, I simply used torn paper towel
to keep that area clear of spray and add an interesting layer.
The 'henge' silhouette was hand sketched, cut,
then enhanced with black gesso.
To give it a feeling of dimension,
I curved it slightly before attaching
securely to my journal page.

Whether it is the latest novel, a song that is playing, a poem or a feeling inside, let it inspire you. Get out your inks, sprays, stamps, pens, and whatever else you love today. An art journal is something you make, just for you. Follow your muse, even if it is to that far away time in a land of mist and magic.
