Use brads, and eyelets on a project.
These Steampunk papers from Stamperia lend themselves to this theme.
But why stop at just brads? I also added laces to her boots and a layer of crinoline over her clothes.
For the hat I used eyelets then threaded a broken costume jewelry chain them it.
This guy too. I was delighted to find the large fabric colored brads that matched his outfit.
I don't have this layout finished yet. But will update when I do.
