October Afternoon Farm Girl

October Afternoon Farm Girl is a fun colorful paper line. I ordered this before Christmas and am just now getting around to making the mini book I had planned.

The book celebrates my daughters initiative and the beginning of the 'Airdrie Farmers Market'. She has built it into a success over the last 4 years.

This year kicks off the 5th season.

I was there for the beginning. I had volunteered to do face painting. As you will see, I tried my best. The day was freezing and I only had those peculiar wet with water sticks to work with. But, the children lined up

 and were very happy.

The beginning for my daughter. This was her booth. Note, I used the UPC cut off strip as decoration on both pages. I encourage you to always look at what you are cutting off for designs and clever words to add in as accents for your work.

This is my own sweet grand daughter. I love that little girl. It took her a long time to decide what she wanted. Finally we went with a butterfly, but just on one side. With all her seriousness as a 3 year old, she eloquently described how it had to go over her eye and down onto her cheek. Clearly she is artistic in her thinking. Wonder where she gets that from?

Two pocket samples and the little darling with the butterfly face had the most unusual amber eyes.

This little girl wanted to look like her kitten. She talked so quietly and was thrilled with her simple kitten face.

I individually cut some of the jars and glossy accented the entire jar. It is hard to see in the photos, but it was well worth the effort and drying time. They were used as pull tabs for the journal and edge tabs on the pages.

I cut along the top of the 'Fine' jars and only adhered sides and bottom to form a pocket.

 

This is the back cover and the   seed packet pockets. They hold journaling and extra photos, and are tucked into various pages of the mini.

 Some are punched and bound in with the rings.

 

 I loved this seed packet paper. I cut them apart in sets of two and made double sided pockets to hold the journaling.

 I used 1/8" double sided tape around the inside edges, leaving the top open and tore them so they looked like an open package of seeds.

I inked the edges with Tim Holtz distress ink.
