A Gypsy Wench Looks at 50 plus.....

Rewind......
Having recently not celebrated another birthday..
{image source gooogle search}
I know I am past middle age... I would have to live
to a ridiculous age to be in the middle
I prefer to think of this time in my life as
the beginning of the second half.
....Unless I break it into seasons...

 Spring-
"I ain't no spring chicken"
One of my favorite lines from
Granny Clampet

{image source google search}

                          Summer-
I still feel the call of the summer sunshine....
I yearn for the days of laying on a sandy beach
soaking up the rays....
Watching the kids play in the water
Throwing on a short skirt or summer dress
to show off my tan legs
Having a handsome young stranger
take a second look...
flirting shamelessly
......Summer too, has left me......

                                               Autumn..
                               is where I am heading...
It showed up quite suddenly one day
It began with a slight change in the color of my hair.....
I think I knew it had arrived when I started to view the young people I see
with a certain wistful ahhhh, they don't know how beautiful they really are.
Fall is holding my grandchildren
and trying not to cry as I realize how precious they are and how time passes all too quickly
I am watching the leaves turn.....how long this fall may be,
only the wind and frost know for sure

Youth has fled and  life has left
lines of wisdom and scars on my body and soul
I know who I am and what I am capable of doing
I take responsibility for where I have been
and  what I have done.
I lean towards the very busy...
I always have several plans
and projects in the working stage
I will never be bored or without something to do.
A girl can always go shopping after all.

I am getting to the point of having to let go of the
things I planned to do but have not....
There is some freedom in letting go
Moving towards new experiences

Where are you in your life?

Let me know where you are

If you don't have a blog

I love to read what you are thinking.
 Please do share.

PS....dear Romeo...please do not mistake the
fact that even though the bikini days are over
this gets you off the hook for a tropical vacation...
just sayin.....

Pam, this is a beautiful post. I need to tell you that fall is my favorite season. Thanks for stopping by. I will scan some recipe cards this week, including a few of the German ones. I have not translated them but shouldn't be too hard.

I have convinced myself that 50 is middle aged. I had a great aunt live to be 101, so I'm planning on doing that too. Its the only way I'll get everything done. I need another 50 plus years just to catch up on the stuff I want to do.

yes i know the vacation is still on the books. thats ok but you better not be thinking about the handsome young stranger. you have to just put up with the old fat guy you have.

This is a wonderful post! Your writing always moves me. I love all four seasons in Vancouver, but autumn remains my favourite so far ... just love the colourful fall!

This made me teary eyed! Hmm, maybe I should do a post on this...am I brave enough? I have a daughter going off to college in 3 weeks. Grandkids are far off, but I look forward to that immense blessing.
You are sweet~
